Otto Kern discovered his love for fashion while studying law and economics. A part-time job at a menswear outfitter was so fulfilling that he abandoned his studies and designed his first shirt collection in 1970 when he was only 20 years old. In the same year, he founded Otto Kern GmbH & Co. KG and the company quickly generated millions in sales revenue.
